Two explosions heard at shophouse fire, no injuries reported

BINTULU, July 11: Two loud explosions were heard in a shophouse blaze early this morning but fortunately no one was hurt in the incident.

According to the state Fire and Rescue Operations Centre spokesperson, no casualties or injuries were reported when fire broke out at the shoplot located at Kemena Commercial Centre, Jalan Tanjung Batu, here.


“Eleven firemen from Bintulu fire station were mobilised to the scene after responding to an emergency call at 7.58am.

“It was learnt that the fire was spotted at the fourth floor of the building, which was used to house workers,” the spokesperson said.

By the time the firefighters arrived at the scene, the blaze already destroyed 60 per cent of the upper floor of the building, he continued.

Actual cause of the incident has yet to be determined as investigation is underway. — DayakDaily
