KUCHING, Jan 1: Two people were killed and nine others injured in a road accident on Jalan Lubok Antu, Betong, Sarawak, this afternoon, involving a four-wheel-drive vehicle (Hilux) and a Proton Iriz.
According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the call was received at 3:30pm, with the team arriving at the scene around 4:06pm.
“Most of the victims had already been assisted by members of the public when Bomba personnel arrived.
“Bomba teams helped extricate a woman who was still seated in the back of the Proton Iriz,” it said in a statement today.
Officers from Ministry of Health (MOE) confirmed that two of the victims had died at the scene, while nine others sustained injuries and were handed over to MOE personnel for further treatment.
Bomba’s Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) unit also assisted in transporting one injured victim to hospital.
The Hilux carried seven occupants, including one man and one woman who died, while six others were injured. The Proton Iriz had four occupants, all of whom sustained injuries. – DayakDaily
