Two claim trial to murder charge, face death sentence if found guilty

KUCHING, Aug 5: Two men who were charged in relation to a kidnap and murder case that happened at Jalan Ong Tiang Swee claimed trial in the Kuching High Court here today.

High Court Judge Supang Lian fixed October 2 for further case management and December 2 to 6 and December 9 to 13 for trial.


Teng Jing Biau, 37, from Bintulu and Tiong Kim Kai, 28, from Miri, are charged together with four other persons who are still at large, with killing a 37-year-old businessman between January 12, at about 10.30pm and January 15, at about 9am at an unnumbered house at Lorong Dusun off Jalan Ong Tiang Swee.

They were charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which when read together with Section 34 of the same code carries a mandatory death sentence, upon conviction.

DPP Ronie Entili prosecuted. Teng was represented by Counsels Roger Chin and Michael Kong while Tiong was represented by Counsel Voon Lee Shan. — DayakDaily
