Two brothers rescued after car swept away by floodwaters in Bintangor

BINTANGOR, March 1: Two brothers faced a heart-stopping moment when the car they were travelling in was swept away by strong currents in floodwaters along Jalan Skim B in Meradong near here in the wee hours today.

In a report, Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak said its Bintangor station received an emergency call about the incident at 2.52am.

Upon arrival at the location, the Bomba team led by operation commander PBK II Peter Jinang said the car was swept away about 50m off the road by floodwaters.

“The two victims managed to get out of the vehicle, a Honda City, on their own without any injuries.

“The rescuers immediately used a safety rope to pull the victims to safety. They were transported to Bintangor town using a police car,” the report said. — DayakDaily
