KUCHING, Mar 24: Government studies across Tanjong Manis District including Belawai, Rajang, Jerijih and Tanjong Manis show significant economic growth since the opening of the Tuanku Bujang Bridge, highlighting the impact of development projects that are closely aligned with local community needs.

According to the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Deputy Minister of Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Sarawak and Kuala Rajang assemblyman Datuk Len Talif Salleh said that development projects that overlook the real needs of the people risk becoming inefficient and wasteful.

“Infrastructure improvements such as new roads and bridges have been key drivers of the district’s economic boost, providing communities with better access to markets, essential services and opportunities,” he said.

He said this at a Hari Raya Aidilfitri gathering organised by the Kuala Rajang Service Centre at the Jerijih Community Hall today, attended by over 300 residents.

He also highlighted the Village Expansion Scheme (SPK) at Kampung Jerijih, a project long anticipated by the local community, noting that its completion is expected soon and will offer more opportunities for residents to acquire residential lots while enhancing the district’s overall development prospects.

“The Sarawak government remains committed to ensuring development projects deliver tangible benefits to the people, particularly in Kuala Rajang, by focusing on initiatives that directly enhance livelihoods and community wellbeing,” he added. — DayakDaily
