KUCHING, June 3: A lorry driver was lucky to escape injury despite his four-wheel-drive vehicle turning turtle in an accident at the Simpang Tiga flyover here this afternoon.
Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department head Supt Alexson Naga Chabu confirmed the 3pm incident.
The 42-year-old man was driving alone from Kenyalang Park heading towards Jalan Airport when he suddenly stopped the Isuzu D-Max on the left side of the flyover after realising there was something wrong with his vehicle.
“Meanwhile, another vehicle, a Proton Pesona driven by a 23-year-old woman came from behind and rammed the four-wheel-drive,” Alexson said in a statement.
He added that initial investigations revealed that the woman could not avoid the Isuzu in time.
Though the collision caused the Isuzu to turn turtle, no fatality was reported.
The woman was later taken to the hospital for treatment.—DayakDaily
