KUCHING, June 25: The Ministry of Transport (MOT), through the Road Transport Department (JPJ), has named 28 goods vehicle and express bus companies with the highest number of unpaid traffic summonses — a move Transport Minister Anthony Loke described as a “hardline” measure to enforce road safety compliance.

“This public disclosure serves as a stern message to all operators — do not take traffic laws lightly,” he said during a press conference at the ministry’s office in Putrajaya today, according to a TVS news report.

Loke stressed that while some enforcement actions can be taken in a diplomatic manner, there are times when firm action is necessary.

“We have to be tactful in certain situations, but today’s approach is firm and decisive — we are naming companies with excessive outstanding summonses,” he stated.

According to the ministry, 11 goods vehicle operators have more than 1,000 unpaid summonses, while 17 express bus companies recorded over 200 summonses.

Top offenders in the freight category include KDEB Waste Management Sdn Bhd with 22,017 summonses, Mainiza Mantap Sdn Bhd (5,108), AdvanceCon Machinery (3,620), and VK Transport (3,016).

In the express bus category, Cepat Express Sdn Bhd topped the list with 540 active summonses, most of which were for speeding violations.

Loke said all companies named have been given 14 days to settle their summonses at any state JPJ office or branch.

Failure to comply will result in immediate enforcement action, including blacklisting of the involved vehicles.

Also present at the press conference were Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Hasbi Habibollah, JPJ Director-General Aedy Fadly Ramli, and Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) Director-General Datuk Azlan Shah Al Bakri. — DayakDaily
