KUCHING, Oct 1: A traffic light will be built between Serian Flyover 1 and Serian Flyover 2 to allow traffic to be diverted back to Serian town, says Bukit Semuja assemblyman John Ilus.

He said the request had been put forth to the Public Works Department (JKR) who gave the assurance that it will be completed by November this year, under the Pan-Borneo Highway project

ā€œThis ā€˜right turn traffic lightā€™ will be entering Jalan Chung Hua, Serian, allowing vehicles using Serian Flyover 1 to turn into Serian town,ā€ said Ilus in a statement today.

He said installation work of the traffic light has started with the shifting and relocation of various utility lines such as water pipes, telecommunication poles and wires before the widening of the section of the road can be carried out.

The project of building overhead bridges in seven locations in Serian was also being deliberated in the briefing.

ā€œMost of these overhead bridges will be built near schools for the safety of the students. One of them will be situated in Serian town itself,ā€ said John.

He said also being discussed was the construction of a ā€œP-turnā€ at Kampung Seroban and the work has already been completed.

Asninda Es Abdul Wahab of JKR’s Pan Borneo Section gave a briefing on the project this morning.

Also present were JKR Serian District Engineer Oliver Ngabong, representative from Zecon Kimlun Consortium Sdn Bhd Azrin Ahmad, Pemanca Chai Min Lee, Penghulu Philip Lee and Chairman of Chinese Chamber of Commerce Serian Lai Swee Chong. ā€” DayakDaily
