KUCHING, Dec 12: A tourist couple, an Italian man and his Thai wife, were rescued this afternoon after being trapped by rising tides along the beach near Damai Golf and Country Club in Santubong.
Fire and Rescue Department Petra Jaya received the emergency call at 1.53pm and arrived at the scene at 2.17pm.
The victims were stranded at the edge of the beach when a sudden high tide cut off their path.
However, before firefighters arrived, staff members from Damai Golf Club managed to safely assist the couple to higher ground.
Operation commander PBK I Pandi Seh said firefighters conducted a size-up of the area and gathered information on the incident upon arrival.
With both victims already in a safe condition and no further risks detected, the operation ended at 2.53pm.
The couple did not sustain any injuries. — DayakDaily
