Tourism Ministry to continue promoting cultural diversity concept in 2024

KUCHING, Jan 2: Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) will continue to promote the concept of cultural diversity by emphasising the importance of cultural integration, dialogue and cooperation among different communities in 2024.

Its Minister Dato Seri Tiong King Sing said the tourism industry is not just an engine for economic growth but also a bridge for cultural exchange and international friendship.

“(The cultural diversity concept) will allow everyone to proudly share our collective cultural heritage, making it an exclusive recipe for creating highlights in the tourism industry,” he said in his New Year message recently.


Tiong also said the Ministry looks forward to more smooth sailing, breaking through challenges, and building on the foundation laid last year for steady progress in the fields of tourism, arts, and culture.

“In 2024, we set sail, step by step, hand in hand, realising our vision and further advancing the development of these sectors,” he added.

In addition, Tiong described his responsibility of overseeing MOTAC as an exciting adventure, with managing the reopening of international borders and reviving the tourism economy as significant tasks.

He also expressed gratitude to his colleagues in the ministry, staff at the constituency service as well as the support and feedback from the general public.

“The enthusiasm, creativity and spirit of dedication from various sectors have made our efforts in the past year has placed us on the international stage on a good note.

“I also encourage everyone to actively participate in helping to preserve and promote our rich cultural heritage however you can via the fields of tourism, arts and culture,” he added. — DayakDaily
