KUCHING, April 22: Dato Sri Tiong King Sing says Sarawak’s boutique airline would benefit those in rural areas.
Tiong, who is the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture (Motac), said it is also a way for the government to give back to the people.
“Maybe there might not be profit, but it is for the convenience of the people to travel. So it will be good for Sarawakians,” he said.
The Bintulu MP said this to reporters when attending the Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud and his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Raghad Kurdi Taib’s Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house at Astana Negeri in Petra Jaya today.
Asked if the boutique airline was approved in the Cabinet meeting, Tiong said it has been ‘principally approved’.
However, he added, according to the Ministry of Transport, it is yet to be made official.
On April 17, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim principally approved Sarawak’s proposal to set up its own boutique airline. — DayakDaily
