KUCHING, Nov 21: Tourism Malaysia and Resorts World Genting (RWG) yesterday signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen Malaysia’s tourism ahead of Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026).
Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Dato Seri Tiong King Sing, said the collaboration focuses on enhancing eco-tourism, edu-tourism, innovation and meaningful visitor experiences.
“Initiatives like these play an important role in driving the country’s tourism competitiveness and ensuring that economic and social benefits are felt more broadly.
“RWG’s efforts, featuring world-class assets, exceptional hospitality and high-impact experience platforms, will help raise the visibility of VM2026 both domestically and internationally,” he wrote in a Facebook post yesterday.
As part of the visit, Tiong toured Eufloria, a new 12.5-acre eco-tourism and edu-tourism attraction that combines horticulture, art and conservation. Its 3.7-acre greenhouse offers a unique botanical experience and serves as a reference point for nature enthusiasts, educational institutions and international visitors.
RWG also unveiled BUNGA 2026, a new floral festival highlighting Malaysia’s biodiversity and creative artistry through flora. This initiative aligns with the national aspiration to develop high-quality tourism segments with distinctive appeal and added value.
During his working visit to Genting Highlands, Tiong also explored the Genting Guest Xperience Centre, an interactive hub showcasing RWG’s tourism transformation journey and the resort ecosystem’s role in supporting VM2026.
He further experienced the immersive Studio Plaza at Genting SkyWorlds Theme Park, a curated modern performance blending immersive technology and creative storytelling to raise VM2026’s profile among global visitors.
“Strategic collaborations like this are crucial for advancing Malaysia’s tourism ecosystem with more innovative, sustainable and high-impact approaches.
“With strong industry support, we are confident VM2026 will become a large-scale campaign that truly showcases Malaysia’s uniqueness on the global stage,” Tiong added.
He called on tourism stakeholders, agencies and communities to continue working together, strengthening partnerships and creating creative initiatives to drive national tourism growth.
“Only through joint efforts can Malaysia remain a top global destination, delivering long-term benefits to the people and the economy,” he emphasised. – DayakDaily
