KUCHING, Nov 23 : Tourism Malaysia, an agency under the Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry (Motac) will cooperate with airline companies to increase connectivity and boost domestic tourism through the ‘Cuti-Cuti Malaysia’ campaign.
Motac, in a media statement today, said the cooperation will involve airline companies such as Malaysia Airlines Berhad (MAB), Firefly, AirAsia and Malindo Air as part of the ministry’s effort to revive the tourism sector in Malaysia.
It added other programmes to be implemented include partnerships with the Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) and e-market platforms to promote holiday and hotel packages in order to increase hotel occupancy
Motac added Tourism Malaysia will also collaborate with Malaysia Budget Hotel Association (MyBHA) to assist selected three stars hotels through the ‘Jom Nginap’ and Malaysia Welcome You’ campaigns.
Motac said Tourism Malaysia will also form partnership with industry players in the service and transportation segments such as Prasarana Malaysia Berhad to induce demand for inter and intra travels amongst domestic tourists and increase the use of public transport service.
The ministry added that Tourism Malaysia will also collaborate with Karyaneka to offer discounts on craft products to boost sales and drive up demand for Malaysian crafts.
Motac said the suggested mechanism for the programme is implemented through the offering of vouchers or discounts or cash rebates that will bring direct impact to the domestic consumers.
The ministry explained that the mechanism is one of the government’s initiatives to promote the use of digital technology through online orders and purchases, the use of mobile applications and the redemption of cash e-vouchers.
Meanwhile, Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said, “Motac welcomes the government’s decision to allow the domestic travel bubble between green zones in Malaysia.
“We hope that the rakyat will use the opportunity to travel responsibly and always adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) and the new norms while traveling,” she said.
At the same time, Nancy called upon tourism industry players to continue their efforts to introduce attractive packages periodically to maintain public interest, as well as to abide by the SOPs that have been outlined by the health authorities.
She hoped that the programmes and initiatives that have been planned will help revive the domestic tourism sector with effective collaboration between all relevant parties towards the recovery of the national economy. —DayakDaily
