KUCHING, March 28: A local man in his 50s lost RM200,000 to an online part-time job scam.

According to a media release, Sarawak police commissioner Dato Mancha Ata said that the victim, who is a retiree, was browsing Facebook when he came across what seemed like an easy part-time job offering high commission returns.

Intrigued by it, the victim contacted the suspect through WhatsApp to negotiate about the online part-time job.

Following that, the victim made several online bank transfers starting from mid-March to the end of March to a bank account provided by the suspect, amounting to approximately RM200,000.

The victim realised he had been scammed when, up until the police report was made, he had only received a commission of approximately RM500. — DayakDaily
