KUCHING, May 1: Four-year-old Muhammad Fayyadh Hadif, who is battling a rare liver disease, remains in urgent need of public support as his family races to raise the remaining RM86,392.44 for a life-saving liver transplant in Shanghai.
As of 10am today, Fayyadh’s father Masli Hj Bojeng confirmed that RM98,607.56 has been collected since they began fundraising on April 21—but time is slipping away.
“It was supposed to be time for us to go already. But we’re still short, and the funds coming in have slowed down,” Masli told DayakDaily via phone conversation today.

Fayyadh is currently warded at Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (PPUM) and is being sustained through Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) while awaiting a slot at a hospital in Shanghai, which limits the number of international patients it accepts each month.
“Even the slot for the transplant is not guaranteed. He has to fight for it too,” Masli shared.
Although his condition is currently stable, doctors have warned that Fayyadh’s blood vessels are like a ticking time bomb and could rupture at any moment.
“This is our only hope. The liver he has now may not last even another year.
“The doctors told us that this second surgery comes with very high risk, including the possibility of death—but we have no choice,” he said.
Masli and his wife have been at PPUM since March 17. The mother provides full-time bedside care, while Masli shuttles between PPUM and Ronald McDonald House at Hospital Tuanku Azizah to cook, do laundry, and attend medical appointments as the designated liver donor.
While the emotional toll has been immense, the couple’s spirit is being tested even further by public suspicion.
“Some people say we’re scammers. It hurts, and it does bring us down. But for Fayyadh, we must stay strong and ignore all that,” he expressed.
On political support, Masli shared that Batang Sadong MP Rodiyah Sapiee has contributed to the cause. He has also been in recent contact with Asajaya assemblyman Datuk Aidel Lariwoo’s team, who expressed intentions to donate, along with receiving supportive letters from other elected representatives.
Masli emphasised that while financial help remains the most pressing need, moral support is also deeply appreciated.
“Just a few kind words can mean a lot to us during this difficult time,” he voiced out.
Donations to help fund Muhammad Fayyadh Hadif’s life-saving liver transplant can be made to Biliary Atresia Malaysia Association (BAMA). Contributions may be transferred to Bank Rakyat, account number 1102310504, with the reference “Adik Fayyadh”.
