KUCHING, July 11: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning of thunderstorms with heavy rain and strong winds expected to occur in the waters of northern Sarawak for three days starting this Thursday (July 13).
In a Twitter post, the department said this would occur following a low-pressure system expected to form west of the Philippines and move northwest towards southern China.
“This situation is expected to cause an increase in the speed and concentration of westerly winds, potentially producing thunderstorms with heavy rain and strong winds in the area during that period,” according to the department.
Meanwhile, a warning of strong winds and rough seas has been issued for the waters of the South China Sea from July 15 to 18.
The public should also visit the department’s website (www.met.gov.my) and all its social media platforms and download the myCuaca application for the latest information. — DayakDaily
