Thunderstorms, heavy rain, strong winds predicted in 6 districts until 5pm today

KUCHING, Oct 12: Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are expected to hit six districts in Sarawak until 5pm today.

According to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) in a Facebook post issued at 2pm today, the affected areas are Kuching, Samarahan, Asajaya, Sarikei, Sibu and Mukah.

The department said that a thunderstorm warning is issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with rain intensity of more than 20 mm/hour that is close or expected to last for more than an hour.

It added that a thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period of not exceeding six hours for a single release. — DayakDaily
