Thunderstorms, heavy rain, strong winds expected for Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, surrounding areas until 4pm (March 4)

KUCHING, March 4: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm and heavy rain warning for several areas in Sarawak.

The warning, released at 1pm, is expected to last until 4pm today.

According to MetMalaysia, the affected areas include Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong (Pusa, Betong, Kabong), Sarikei (Sarikei, Meradong), Sibu (Sibu, Selangau), Mukah, Bintulu (Tatau, Bintulu), and Limbang.

“The warning is issued when there are signs of thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20 mm per hour, either occurring nearby or expected to last for more than an hour.

“A thunderstorm warning is a short-term alert, valid for no more than six hours per issuance,” it said. — DayakDaily
