KUCHING, Sept 14: Thunderstorms and heavy rain are predicted to hit Southern and Central Sarawak until 5pm today.
According to a Malaysia Meteorology Department (MetMalaysia) Facebook advisory published at 2.30pm, the affected districts are Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Sarikei, Meradong , Sibu, Selangau, Mukah, Tanjung Manis, Matu, and Dalat.
The department said that the warnings are issued when there are signs of thunderstorms with rain intensity exceeding 20 mm/hour, which is expected to occur close to or more than one hour.

It added that a thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release. — DayakDaily.
