KUCHING, June 17: A thunderstorm alert has been issued for most parts of Sarawak until 6pm today (June 17).
Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) in an advisory notice issued at 3.10pm, said affected districts are Kuching (Bau and Kuching), Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei (Pakan and Julau), Kapit, Bintulu (Tatau), Miri (Beluru, Telang Usan, Marudi) and Limbang.
According to the department, heavy rainfall and strong wind are also expected during the period.
“A warning is issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with rain intensity greater than 20mm/hour that is approaching or expected to last for more than an hour.
“A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning that is valid for a maximum of six hours per release,” it added. — DayakDaily
