KUCHING, Aug 4: Thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds are expected to affect several divisions across Sarawak until 9pm today, according to the latest weather alert from the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).
The warning, issued at 5.20pm, covers the following areas in Sarawak: Kuching (Kuching district), Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Miri (Telang Usan and Marudi districts), and Limbang.

“A warning is issued when there are indications of a thunderstorm with a rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm per hour that is imminent or expected to persist for more than one hour.
“A thunderstorm warning is a short-term alert, valid for a period not exceeding six hours per issuance,” the department said. — DayakDaily
