Thunderstorm alert for Kuching, Samarahan, Asajaya until 3pm (Nov 23)

KUCHING, Nov 23: Thunderstorm warnings have been issued to Kuching, Samarahan, and Asajaya which are valid until 3pm today.

According to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (METMalaysia), the warnings were issued at 11.45am today.

The mentioned areas are expected to experience thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds.

“A warning is issued when there are signs indicating thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20 mm/hour that are imminent or expected to occur for more than an hour.

“A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for no more than six hours for each issuance,” said the department.

Members of the public are advised to exercise caution during this period, especially when engaging in outdoor activities.

Road users should be alert to slippery conditions, reduced visibility, and the risk of fallen branches or debris.

Residents in low-lying or flood-prone areas are urged to remain vigilant for sudden rises in water levels. — DayakDaily
