KUCHING, March 11: Bukit Assek now has three longhouse chieftains (‘tuai rumah’) and seven kapitans to serve constituents.
The community leaders were appointed on Wednesday (March 9) at the Sibu District Office, according to a news report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas).
The presentation ceremony of certificates of appointment was officiated by Sibu Resident Wong Hee Sieng and witnessed by Bukit Assek assemblyman Joseph Chieng Jin Ek.
Also present were Sibu District Officer Suhaili Mohammed and community leaders Temenggong Dato Vincent Lau Lee Ming and Pemanca Datuk Jason Tai.
The ceremony continued with a pledge of integrity taken by the community leaders. — DayakDaily
