KUCHING, June 15: Three teenage girls who went missing while hiking at Lambir Hills National Park in Miri were found safe and brought out by rescuers last night (June 14).

According to Operation Commander Harry Lohoi, as reported by TVS, the Fire and Rescue Department received a distress call at 4.31pm, prompting the deployment of seven firefighters from the Miri Central Fire and Rescue Station to the scene.

“Initially, the victims could not be reached to determine their exact location. However, contact was successfully established around 5pm, and they were found safe at 7.30pm,” he said in a statement today.

He added that the girls were escorted out on foot along a 2.5-kilometre hiking trail and handed over to their families at 9.45pm.
