According to Reezal, a total of six PPAM projects were being implemented involving a total of 1,595 units affordable housing units, and three out of six projects have been completed benefiting about 6,000 families.

ā€œThe three completed projects are PPAM Kota Samarahan (300 units), PPAM Muara Tuang (340 units), PPAM Melia Residence @ ParkCity Eastwood in Miri (204 units). Two projects still under construction, namely PPAM Tabuan Jaya, PPAM Sibu, while one PPAM project in Miri is still in the planning stage,ā€ said Reezal during a press conference after a working visit to PPAM Kota Samarahan today.

Reezal noted, for PPAM Kota Samarahan, 60 per cent of the buyers comprised individuals aged between 25 to 35-years-old.

He also said that the Sarawak government’s deposit assistance scheme up to a maximum of RM10,000 for first-time home buyers, has enabled young Sarawakian to secure a loan to own a house.

ā€œEven though the banks provide the 90 per cent margin of financing, but sometimes, the it is difficult to come up with the 10 per cent (deposit).

ā€œWith the help of the Sarawak government’s housing deposit assistance, this initiative enables Sarawakians to own a house, especially for the M40 and B40 group,ā€ he added.
