MIRI, Aug 18: Three individuals were injured after a Toyota Land Cruiser skidded off the road and plunged into a ravine at Jalan Long Loyang here last night.
According to a TVS news report, a spokesperson for the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Operations Centre said the incident, which occurred at about 9.40pm, involved two men and a woman as they navigated a challenging route near a forested area.
“Both men sustained injuries and were rescued by members of the public, who rushed them to Long Lama Health Clinic.
“The woman, however, was trapped inside the vehicle which had plunged into the ravine,” the spokesperson said in a statement today.
Bomba received a distress call at 10.50pm, but the rescue team from Lopeng Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) faced an arduous journey of 121 kilometres through logging roads, taking nearly five hours to reach the scene.
“When the team arrived at Pasar Lapok at about 3am, they were informed that the trapped woman had been successfully extricated by members of the public and sent to Beluru Hospital for further treatment,” the statement added.
No rescue operation was carried out by Bomba as all victims had already been taken out from the vehicle.
The operation was officially concluded at 4.01am. — DayakDaily
