MIRI, Dec 28: Police have detained three individuals including two juveniles to facilitate probe over an alleged rape case involving a Form One girl at an estate in Sungai Teniku Jalan Miri-Bintulu on Thursday (Dec 26).

The suspects, all locals aged between 16 and 19, were nabbed in two separate locations during Ops Krismas-Ops Cantas carried out on Friday (Dec 27), following a police report lodged by the victim on the day of the incident.

Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah, when contacted today, confirmed the arrest of the trio who were school dropout.

“They have been remanded for seven days to facilitate police investigation into the case,” he said without disclosing further details of the case.

The girl, who was accompanied by her mother to lodge the police report, claimed that one of the suspects dragged her off from the motorcycle at an estate while on the way to a nearby longhouse, where they took turn to rape her.

According to sources, the victim knew all the suspects and prior to the incident, one of them had took her for a ride on a motorcycle supposedly heading to the one of the suspect’s longhouse.

The case is being investigated under Section 375B of the Penal Code for gang-rape.— DayakDaily
