Three friends on fishing trip off Pulau Sari reported missing

LAWAS, Sept 10: Three friends who went for a fishing trip off Pulau Sari, here, yesterday have been reported missing.

Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre (PGO), in a statement, said they received the distressed call from Lawas police station at 8.10pm.


According to the boat owner (who lodged the police report), one of the victim had asked to borrow his boat at 6am for a fishing trip with his friends.

When he contacted the victim at 3.30pm, he was told that they were fishing at the Pulau Sari area.

However, at 4pm, when he tried to contact the victim again, the latter could not be reached. He made another attempt at 5pm, but failed to reach the victim.

Fearing for the trio’s safety, the boat owner decided to lodge a police report at 7.54pm.

A search and rescue (SAR) operation for the trio was immediately mounted by Bomba and the police. As at press time, they have yet to find the victims. The SAR operation continues. — DayakDaily
