Three fined for threatening to cut off man’s tongue

MIRI, Nov 26: Three men were each fined RM2,000, in default one month’s imprisonment, by the Magistrate’s Court here on Monday (Nov 25), for threatening a 23-year-old man at a parking lot of a mosque in Piasau Jaya last month.

The accused have pleaded guilty before Magistrate Steve Ritikos after the charges were read out by the court interpreter.


According to the charge sheet, the trio were alleged to have threatened to cut off the victim’s tongue on Oct 27, 2019 at around 1.30pm at Masjid Darul Ehsan’s parking lot.

They were charged under Section 506 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to seven years or a fine or both upon conviction.

All the three accused were unrepresented, while ASP Mary Ong prosecuted.— DayakDaily
