MUKAH, April 13: Police arrested three men for illegal cockfighting and defying the movement control order (MCO) yesterday afternoon.

According to Mukah OCPD Supt Jimmy Panyau, the three suspects between 47 to 49 were arrested in Sungai Arif, Balingian.

The police also seized one live rooster, two dead roosters, six plastic chairs, six spurs and RM185.

The case is being investigated under Regulation 3 (1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures Within the Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2020 and Section 3 (1) of the Cruelty to Animals Act 1962.

Jimmy revealed this was the second time such arrests were made by the police here since of the MCO on March 18. They had arrested five men on April 7 at Jalan Ulu Bayan for illegal cockfighting.

He reminded the public to stay at home during the MCO and refrain from indulging in activities such as cockfighting. He gave warning the police would take stern action if they are caught in such activities. — DayakDaily
