KUCHING, Sept 16: Thousands descended on La Promenade Mall for the official opening of its second annual Oktoberfest tonight.

The much-anticipated festival, which will run until October 8, every Thursday to Sunday, was officiated by Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) chairman Datuk Peter Minos, represented by its councillor, Dato Sim Kiang Chiok.

This year also saw twice the number of food and beverage vendors participating to provide more variety for festivalgoers compared to last year.

To enliven the atmosphere, renowned world music artistes At Adau and Mozaik returned to captivate festivalgoers again this year.

According to digital marketing manager Sophia Ong, festivalgoers also enjoyed performances from other notable musicians, like the country band OnStrings and Reening Lau, who will share the stage with vocalist Raquel and Fransiska, Ve6, and more.

She added that the live music during the event spans a range of genres, from modern rock to local indigenous pop and country.

“For food, tenants include Ajishou, GE Sausage, Zoro, Yi Chuan Noodle, Wan More Burger, Borneo Fresh Pork, Terrace and Vietnamese Street Food, and a wide range of beverages,” said Ong.

Parking at the festival is free. For more info, visit lapromenademall.com.my or search @lapromenademall on social media. — DayakDaily
