Thieves made midnight snack as they stole RM8,800 worth of birds’ nests

MIRI, Nov 17: One of the five suspects who forced they way into a bird’s nest processing plant in Kampung Lumut, Bekenu early Friday morning (Nov 16), reportedly managed to cook some eggs while his four other accomplices ransacked the building.

In the 12.30am incident, the suspects allegedly went into the building, held a family of four believed to be workers of the bird’s nest plant at knifepoint and tied them up.


The victims aged between 30 to 70 years of age were forced to endure their captivity for two hours, before they managed to untie the ropes and alert their supervisor, who lodged a police report in Bekenu.

Cash amounting to RM1,200 and two kilos of edible bird’s nests worth RM8,800 were reported stolen.

No one was injured during the incident, said Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah.

As at press time, no arrest has been made and police are still investigating. — DayakDaily
