For sisters Vivian Voon Lee Ling, 28, and Vivi Voon Lee Chen, 24, their close bond shines through their shared passion for bead crafting—a love that recently blossomed into a small business venture.

While Vivian contributed her business acumen, Vivi applied her artistic flair to creatively promote their bead brand and win customers’ hearts.

As the elder and more extroverted sibling, Vivian naturally took the lead in managing customer interactions and sales.

“My sister Vivi is a bit more introverted, and since she focuses on perfecting her craft to produce the designs our customers request, I don’t mind being at the front line so she can concentrate on her work,” Vivian shared with DayakDaily.

“Creating customised handmade merchandise is not easy, so her craftsmanship is essential. What matters most is that both we and our customers are happy with the outcome.”

For now, the sisters plan to continue this division of roles as they grow their budding enterprise and build a name in the local craft scene.

“I hope that one day Vivi will take over the business on her own. I’m married and also help my husband with his business, but for now, I’m enjoying this, it’s fun to sell something so unique and beautiful,” Vivian added with a smile.

For Vivi, her journey into bead crafting developed naturally from a love of handmade creations and countless hours spent watching crafting videos online.

“Watching creators share their processes inspired me to try new things and express my own ideas through handmade pieces,” she said.

Eager to share her artistry beyond the digital world, Vivi not only promotes her creations on social media but also participates in weekend vendor events to meet customers in person.

“Our work is very much custom-made. We want people to know us not only through social media but also face-to-face, where they can truly appreciate the craft and tell us what they want.”

When designing custom merchandise, Vivi explained that customers often bring their own ideas or sketches, which she then translates into finished products using carefully selected beads and trinkets, often to the delight of her clients.

Their creations include earrings, bracelets, handbag charms, keychains, and phone charms, each tailored to the customer’s personal taste.

“That’s what makes it fun for me. It allows my sister and me to make a living doing something we love—and I’m hopeful for what’s ahead,” she said.

Vivi also aspires to further refine her skills and grow within the craft industry, finding fulfilment in the joy her creations bring to others.

“I believe beautiful, customised accessories can enhance a person’s inner beauty,” she said.

The sisters’ business, Lunel.Space, embodies both creativity and ambition.

“The name ‘Lunel’ comes from the Latin word ‘luna’, meaning ‘moon’. We hope our business will shine forever like the moon. ‘Space’ represents the vast opportunities ahead—a space for us to dream and create,” said the sisters.
