KUCHING, July 31: A mini Thailand has arrived in the heart of Kuching, as Thailand Week 2025 transforms The Spring Shopping Mall into a bustling indoor celebration of Thai culture, cuisine, and commerce from July 31 to Aug 3, open daily from 10am to 10pm.
Bringing together over 100 booths representing more than 110 brands, this first-ever Thailand Week in Sarawak is organised by the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), Ministry of Commerce, Thailand, with the aim of showcasing the best of Thai lifestyle, innovation, and entrepreneurial spirit to East Malaysians.
The vibrant opening today saw Worawan Wanwil, Minister-Counsellor (Commercial) and Director of the DITP Malaysia Office, leading an official walkabout with media and early visitors who were among the first to explore the event’s offerings.

From the moment shoppers step into the mall’s Centre Court and Second Floor, they are transported into a vibrant Thai marketplace alive with colour, energy, and charm.
Food lovers are in for a treat with 51 booths dedicated to Thai food and beverages, offering everything from crispy street snacks and exotic spices to ready-to-eat meals, sauces, drinks, and delicacies packed with bold, authentic flavours.

Adding flair and vibrancy are 23 lifestyle booths, showcasing colourful textiles, fashion accessories, handicrafts, souvenirs, and home decor items that reflect the beauty and craftsmanship of Thai tradition.

For those seeking rejuvenation, 19 wellness booths feature natural skincare, traditional herbal remedies, spa essentials, and beauty innovations that combine ancient wisdom with modern trends.

Rounding out the experience are nine technology and innovation booths, which highlight smart living solutions, consumer gadgets, and emerging ideas from Thai startups and creators eager to make their mark on the global stage.

Together, these diverse offerings form a dynamic marketplace that celebrates Thailand’s rich heritage, creative flair, and forward-looking spirit right in the heart of Kuching.
“This is our first time bringing Thailand Week to Kuching, and we’re thrilled to create this bridge of opportunity not just for Thai entrepreneurs and exporters, but also for Malaysian consumers and businesses,” said Worawan after the walkabout.
He explained that Thailand Week serves both B2B (business-to-business) and B2C (business-to-consumer) needs, providing space for brands to connect with buyers and the general public alike.
“We added a festive and cultural atmosphere so even casual shoppers can explore what Thailand has to offer. This helps Thai brands gain visibility and opens the door for future collaboration,” he said.
Despite strong trade relations between Thailand and Malaysia, Worawan noted that engagement in Borneo remains limited.
“So this is what we’re trying and hoping to do. We’re starting small in hopes that it will grow into something bigger,” he noted.
Further commenting, Worawan said this exhibition not only targets entrepreneurs but also aims to attract the general public interested in discovering Thai products.
“Although this is our first time holding this exhibition, we’re doing our best. We’ve brought in Thai businesses interested in becoming partners here. At the same time, we want to offer more options to local consumers,” he explained.
“Come and see for yourself, experience the atmosphere and if the response is encouraging, we might just come back again.”

Whether you’re a foodie, a beauty buff, a small business owner or just looking for something new to explore, Thailand Week brings a rich blend of tradition, innovation, and community spirit right into the heart of Kuching.
Thailand Week is open to all, with free admission and activities suitable for the whole family.
So grab your shopping bags and say “Sawasdee (สวัสดี)” to a weekend full of Thai delights. — DayakDaily
