KUCHING, April 7: With the Sarawak Dayak National Union (SDNU) Kuching Branch marking its 10th anniversary this year, newly re-elected chairman Thadeus Ling Allu has pledged to steer the organisation into a new era of dynamic and community-driven programmes.

Thadeus, who retained his position during the 9th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at a leading hotel here yesterday (April 6), said the 2025–2028 term would be focused on launching a comprehensive three-year strategic plan centred around education, culture, welfare, and youth empowerment.

The AGM also saw the election of a refreshed leadership team, with Petrus Ngalih Tingi stepping in as deputy chairman, replacing Gat Belabot who did not contest.

Dr Stanley Abang was appointed as secretary and Alice Vynar as treasurer.

Among the key initiatives planned for the coming term are a Modern Agriculture Course in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, a Dayak Cultural Carnival, and a Youth Mentorship Programme — all aimed at enriching the community and nurturing the next generation of Dayak leaders.

Thadeus also emphasised strengthening ties with government agencies, private sector stakeholders, and educational institutions to widen the reach and impact of SDNU Kuching’s programmes.

With more than 1,000 registered members and a strong working relationship with Serakup Indu Dayak Sarawak (SIDS), SDNU Kuching remains a key platform in championing Dayak identity, heritage, and aspirations.

The branch will also send 15 representatives to the upcoming SDNU Central AGM. — DayakDaily
