KUCHING, Sept 4: The traffic light junction at Mile 10 will be temporarily closed to facilitate construction activities beginning Monday (Sept 6) until Nov 22.
The Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak, in a statement today, informed that the road closure is expected to last for 11 weeks and would be done to make way for the reconstruction of the pavement as part of the Pan Borneo Highway project.
With that, the right turn entry from the Kuching-Mile 9 traffic light onto Kota Padawan commercial centre as well as the route from Kota Padawan to Serian will be closed.
There will be some traffic changes to the way motorists move through the area to keep traffic moving safely while workers complete the works.
People heading to the Kota Padawan commercial centre will now need to make a U-turn at the traffic light junctions at Mile 8 or Mile 11.
All road users are also advised to use the alternative road provided according to the directional signboards installed along the way.
JKR Sarawak assured that the contractors will work hard and try to shorten the time required to finish the works but the timing would depend on weather and ground conditions.
It also apologised for any inconveniences caused and called for the continuous cooperation from the public.
For complaints or information on the traffic changes, the public can contact the Pan Borneo Highway Unit at 082-230879 or Mr Audi Munir (016-8792057) or Senada (TMO) at 017-8504026. — DayakDaily
