Telang Usan rep urges MOH to consider building health clinic in Long Anyat

Dennis Ngau

KUCHING, Nov 10: Telang Usan assemblyman Dato Dennis Ngau calls for the Ministry of Health (MOH) to consider building a rural health clinic in Long Anyat.

According to a news report from TV Sarawak (TVS) on Nov 9, Dennis said that the nearest clinic is located at Long Bedian, and the distance and travelling cost is a burden for the constituents.

“I hope the federal government will consider building a clinic in the middle of a Penan village in Long Anyat because the location is surrounded by Penan villages.

“So far, I know they (the Penan community) receive health services at the Long Bedian Clinic or Long Lama. If the case is more serious, they must be referred to Miri Hospital, about four to six hours away,” he said.

He suggested that the clinic could be built on a smaller scale initially to provide basic treatment, supply medicines, and treat mild cases.

He added that this is also one of the efforts to prepare for health issues, such as Covid-19. — DayakDaily
