Teenager receiving treatment after spotted on ledge at Sarawak General Hospital building

KUCHING, Feb 1: A teenage girl was rescued yesterday (Jan 31) after she was seen on a ledge at the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) building.

In a statement, Kuching district police chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah disclosed the teenager who was spotted on camera, is currently receiving treatment at the SGH emergency ward.

He revealed that on Jan 31, 2024, at around 9.53am, the Kuching District Police Headquarters (IPD) received information about the incident.


“The victim was successfully rescued and sent to the SGH emergency ward to receive treatment and be monitored by psychiatric medical officers at SGH,” he added.

In a brief video shared on social media yesterday, a girl wearing a face mask was spotted seated on a the handrail of a building ledge, with one arm wrapped around a vertical rail and one leg dangled over the wall momentarily.

A concerned man was seen approaching slowly from a distance and initiated a conversation with the distressed girl. Shortly afterward, a group of individuals, including a man in a dark green uniform, carefully approached from behind, grabbed and pulled her to safety. — DayakDaily
