Teenager fined RM1,000 for defying home quarantine order

The youth caught with the wristband

KAPIT : A 17-year old youth who ventured out of his house to Taman Height while under home quarantine order was fined RM1,000 yesterday.

Also fined similar amount on the same day were four persons aged between 36 to 58 for sitting in a table in a coffee shop meant for two persons only.

Kapit District Police Chief, DSP Freddy Bian said acting on a tip-off from a member of the public that a youth wearing a home quarantine order wristband was seen at Taman Height at 6.30pm, an SOP Monitoring team rushed to the scene.

Earlier at about 6pm, the four men were caught having their meal in an eatery outlet in Jalan Airport.

“They were sitting at a table designated for two persons only. So action has to be taken against them for defying conditional movement control order,” he said.

DSP Freddy urged the public to inform the police if they stumble upon anybody with Covid-19 wristband in public places.

“Business operators should inform us if their customers are not complying with the SOP like not wearing mask and not observing social distancing,” he said.

He warned that should they fail to do so, similar compounding action would be meted against them. — DayakDaily
