KUCHING, Dec 5: A 15-year-old motorcyclist was killed after a head-on collision with a lorry at Jalan Matang, on Wednesday.
State Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu in a statement said the deceased was identified as Mohammad Ashrell Abdul from Taman Bowood, Jalan Batu Kawa.
“The incident occurred at 4.09pm at Jalan Matang, nearby Courts Mammoth, when a lorry which was heading towards Moyan Square from Petra Jaya collided head-on after the deceased’s motorcycle that was coming from the opposite direction suddenly swerved into the lorry lane, and slid into the lorry front end,” he said.
According to Alexson, the deceased suffered serious head injuries from the collision while the lorry driver was unharmed.
He also said that the deceased was brought to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and was pronounced dead by the medical personnel.
The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. —DayakDaily.
