Teenage motorcyclist killed, brother injured in Bintangor road crash

SIBU, Dec 19: An 18-year old motorcyclist succumbed to a serious neck injury after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a car in Bintangor this morning.

The deceased is from Kpg Darul Falah, Sungai Gemuan. His 14-year old brother who was riding pillion was rushed with a broken left thigh by an ambulance to Bintangor Health Clinic.

According to Bintangor District Police chief, DSP Sekam Anoi, in the 10am accident today at Jalan Kelupu, the deceased together with his brother were travelling from Bintangor Bazaar to their home.


“At the accident site, it is believed that the deceased had tried to overtake a car from the right side of the car which was travelling in the same direction,” he revealed.

The car which was driven by a 48-year-old man then turned towards Taman Bintang which was on his right side.

“The deceased could not avoid the car and rammed into its front door. He died on the spot with serious injury on his neck,” Sekam added.

The driver of the car was unhurt.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — DayakDaily
