Technology association, Sarawak gov’t join forces to nurture next-gen tech professionals

KUCHING, April 9: The Technology Association of Malaysia (TAM) Sarawak Branch is ramping up efforts to strengthen strategic collaboration with the Sarawak government and Sarawak Skills and Talent Development (STACK), aiming to grow the state’s pool of technology professionals and elevate local technological capabilities.

In a move to solidify this partnership, the TAM Sarawak delegation led by chairman Datu Ir Cassidy Morris paid a courtesy visit to the Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Aband Johari Tun Openg, who also serves as the advisor to TAM Sarawak, at Satria Pertiwi Complex today.

During the meeting, both parties exchanged ideas on enhancing cooperation, particularly in supporting STACK-led initiatives focused on talent development and professional skills enhancement.

According to a statement, discussions emphasised the need for closer ties between industry players, academic institutions, and the wider professional community, ensuring that technological expertise in Sarawak continues to grow through collaboration across sectors.

Efforts to build a more dynamic technological ecosystem were highlighted, with an eye on improving Sarawak’s competitiveness and innovation capacity.

TAM Sarawak also reaffirmed its proactive role in supporting the state’s digital and technological transformation agenda.

With the Premier serving as advisor, the association plans to expand partnerships with government agencies, industry stakeholders, and educational institutions.

Initiatives under consideration include technology-focused programmes, professional competitions, and knowledge-sharing activities to benefit the local tech community.
