KUCHING, Nov 15: Tebedu assemblyman Dr Simon Sinang Bada has warned his fellow Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) members not to support the Opposition, including Dr Alim Impira, who is standing as an Independent candidate.

Alim, a former high-ranking Customs officer, was a registered member of PBB Tebedu.

“As far as PBB Tebedu is concerned, I have warned our members not to support the Opposition. Our president (Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg) has spelt it very clearly that we have to support the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) Candidate Datuk Seri Richard Riot Jaem here in P199 Serian.

“If they do help and support the Opposition, indulging the Independent candidate, the repercussions will be very bad,” Sinang warned.

Sinang, a first-term PBB assemblyman made these comments when he was asked on the current issue surrounding Alim’s involvement in this 15th General Election.

“As far as Dr Alim’s membership is concerned, we leave that to the party’s top leadership,” he said.

Meanwhile, when contacted, PBB Information Chief Datuk Idris Buang said any PBB members who are seen to support and contest against GPS candidate will have their membership automatically forfeited.

Riot, who is also United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) deputy president, is facing three other candidates namely Alim, Elsiy Tingang of Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB), and Learry Jabol of Democratic Action Party (DAP).

In the last GE14, Riot won Serian in a three-cornered fight with a majority of 9,905 votes. — DayakDaily
