KUCHING, Dec 29: A task force jointly chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and will be formed to look into the construction of the Tebedu Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) complex.
The Chief Minister’s Office today pointed out this in response to news reports in some local dailies today that Abang Johari would be heading a task force to decide whether to rebuild or upgrade Tebebu ICQS.
“This office wishes to clarify that the task force shall be jointly chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister and the Chief Minister, and not by the Chief Minister only as reported,” said the Chief Minister’s Office in a statement today.
Zahid who is also the Home Minister made a working visit to Tebedu ICQS yesterday at Serian and announced that a task force to look into the building of Tebedu ICQS would be formed.
He said he and the Sarawak government had agreed to foot the building cost 50-50 once the paperwork has been complied and the plan approved by the federal cabinet.
“The task force has two weeks to hold a meeting and 60 days to prepare a working paper which is then to be informed to the Economic Council and presented at the next cabinet meeting,” said Zahid. — DayakDaily
