KUCHING, Oct 18: Datuk Snowdan Lawan delivered his final address as Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) Youth chief with tears welling in his eyes, marking the close of a heartfelt nine-year journey during the party’s Sixth Triennial Delegates Conference (TDC) held at Riverside Majestic Hotel here today.
Speaking before hundreds of delegates, Snowdan’s voice occasionally quivered as he recounted his journey since 2016 as one filled with challenges, growth and pride, thanking the PRS leadership and members for their trust and support throughout his term.
“It has been a period of tireless work, unforgettable challenges and incredible youth growth. When I first took up this mandate, I was filled with ambition and a little apprehension.
“Today, I am filled with deep appreciation for the journey we have taken together. I have no regret. In fact, I am thankful to have undertaken this challenging task along with you all,” he said, his tone thick with emotion.
Snowdan reflected on milestones that shaped the Youth Wing’s identity under his leadership, including the formation of Pewaris—the newly established sub-wing for members aged 18 to 28, and the PRS Youth Roadshow that reached communities from Lawas to Lundu.
He also fondly recalled the 2019 PRS Youth visit to the UK Parliament and National Archives, where members viewed the original Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) document.
“These experiences strengthened our unity, teamwork and spirit of service,” he said, crediting his committee and grassroots members for their commitment and passion.
As Snowdan concluded, he reaffirmed that his exit was not a farewell but a transition, assuring that he would remain a loyal and active member of PRS and continue to support the youth movement in any way he could.
“I leave this post with a heart full of confidence—” he stopped, his voice trembling with emotion.
The crowd broke into applause, offering their support and appreciation. Composing himself, he went on, “—and the knowledge that our youth wing is in capable hands.”
The conference also saw Dato Sri Doris Sophia Brodie returned unopposed as PRS Women Chief for the 2025–2028 term. – DayakDaily
