KUCHING, Aug 16: A TikTok video featuring a dedicated educator who used his own money to purchase a Starlink device for use in a rural area of Sarawak has gained widespread attention on the social media platform.
The teacher’s selfless effort was motivated by the need to simplify his work as an educator while also improving his students’ learning experiences in the remote area with limited Internet access.
On Aug 3, user @amoimorni shared a TikTok video featuring a teacher identified as Cikgu Izzat. In the video, Cikgu Izzat can be seen holding a box labelled ‘Starlink’.
@amoimorni starlink. Happy betul cikgu izzat ni bila starlink dah sampai. Hahahahaha jom tgk hasil dia nanti 😍 #starlink #starlinksatellites #starlinkinternet #fyp #rurallife #sarawak #pedalamansarawak
In another video shared on the same platform, user @amoimorni, who is believed to be also a teacher, explained that Cikgu Izzat obtained the Starlink device through his own efforts, without any external help.
However, she expressed gratitude to the government for bringing Starlink technology to the country, which makes it easier for those living in rural areas of Sarawak to obtain better Internet access.
“Even though we bought it (Starlink) ourselves, we still give credit to the officials that brought Starlink into Malaysia. This makes it easier for us to get better Internet access,” she said.
@amoimorni Replying to @SangMusafir8794 maaf, kami beli sendiri ya.. Walaupun beli sendiri, tetap kredit kepada pihak yang bawa masuk starlink ke Malaysia. Dpt memudahkan kami untuk dpt capaian internet lebih baik 👍
Netizens flooded in with positive reactions, expressing their keen interest in learning more about the utilisation of Starlink.
Additionally, user @amoimorni shared the Starlink speed test on her TikTok account, and many netizens praised the impressive download speeds, which reached up to 151Mbps, even in remote areas.
Cikgu Izzat, who is also on TikTok (@izzathasim), posted a video explaining the process of purchasing Starlink in Malaysia.
@amoimorni Replying to @Quzueri alhamdulillah.
Starlink, with its capacity to provide Internet access to everyone, is viewed as an advantageous solution, especially in rural areas. Interested parties can purchase the Starlink device via the Starlink website for a monthly subscription fee of RM220. — DayakDaily
