KUCHING, May 8: A history teacher was sentenced to five years’ jail by the High Court here today for possession, custody or controlled items associated with the IS terrorist group.
Muhamad Naseefullah @ Heawian Einie, 48, was slapped with two charges, and he pleaded guilty to both charges.
Judge Lee Heng Cheong accepted his guilty plea, sentenced him to imprisonment for two-and-a-half years for each charge but ordered the jail term to run concurrently from the date of arrest, which is Dec 1, 2017.
Muhamad Naseefullah was charged under Section 130JB(1)(a) of the Penal Code for possessing three books that contained information about terrorism acts related to IS and his laptop was also found to contain content depicting terrorism acts that relate to the IS terrorist group at his house in Jalan Siol Kanan on Dec 8, 2017, at about 2.30pm.
He was charged under Section 130JB(1)(a) of the Penal Code and punishable under Section 130JB(1) of the Penal Code, which carries imprisonment not exceeding 7 years or fine and possible forfeiture of the items if convicted.
He was actually arrested and charged in the KL High Court on suspicion of being involved in security offences at KLIA2 on Dec 1, 2017, at about 3.22pm. He pleaded guilty to the charge on Dec 8, 2018, and was sentenced to 2 years’ jail.
On Dec 8, 2017, he led the police, led by Inspector Azam Rusman, to his house in Jalan Siol Kanan, where the 3 books and laptop were found.
All the jail sentences are to run concurrently.
