SIBU, June 18: Sports science teacher Charles Luanga Uyong impressed the judges with his chiselled body to win Mr Sibu 2023 Bodybuilding and Physique Competition last night.
Charles, 31, who is based in Kuala Lumpur, beat four other finalists to claim the title in the competition organised by Sibu Division Bodybuilding and Weightlifting Association (SDBWA).
In first runner-up position was Anthony Tebie while Gaddafi Arafat Zulkasisi and Lee Borris came in third and fourth place respectively.
Meanwhile, in the Men Sports Category, Ahmad Alif Mohamad Merah was crowned champion followed by Wong Cheng Tian (second place) and Chiew Chee Tak (third place).
Fadhli Basni was the winner in the Men’s Athletic Physique Category (under 170cm) while Ahmad Alif Mohamad Merah and Azmir Ajis were in second and third place respectively.
In the Men’s Athletic Physique Category (170cm and above), Chiew Chee Tak emerged as the winner followed by Edric Jiau Yew Ang (second place) and Mohd Al Badrul Abu (third place).
All winners were presented prizes in the form of trophies, medals and fitness products from Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government, Michael Tiang.
Tiang in his speech said the result of three Sibu bodybuilders winning a champion and two runner-up titles at the 2022 Mr Malaysia Bodybuilding contest in Kedah, augurs well for the growth of the sport in Sibu. — DayakDaily
