KUCHING, May 31: Tour guides, taxi and school bus drivers, rental and e-hailing drivers will receive one-off special assistance of RM500 under the Pemerkasa Plus (Strategic Programme to Empower the People and Economy) package.
Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said it is undeniable that the taxi drivers, rental car and school bus drivers are adversely affected during this Movement Control Order (MCO) period.
“To reduce their burden, the government has agreed to provide one-off special assistance of RM500 to 17,000 tourist guides, 40,000 taxi drivers, 11,000 school bus drivers, 4,000 sightseeing bus drivers, as well as 62,000 rental and e-hailing drivers,” he said in a special message aired live nationwide today.
Muhyiddin added the assistance amounting to a total of RM68 million will be given to the registered recipients in July. — DayakDaily
