KUCHING, Nov 29: The Greater Bau agenda is pushing the district towards faster and high-impact development, with education positioned as the driving force for its future progress.
According to a Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS) news, Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Henry Harry Jinep said education must move in line with Bau’s rapid growth to ensure the next generation is competent, competitive and self-reliant.
“The Bau District is moving towards faster development through The Greater Bau agenda, which is a high-impact development vision that emphasises economic, social, infrastructure and people’s well-being.
“In this context, education is the linchpin that will determine the direction of Bau’s future development,” he said officiating the Bau District Education Office School Excellence Appreciation Ceremony 2024 yesterday (Nov 28).
Henry, who is also Deputy Minister of Transport (Riverine and Maritime), hopes Bau will lead in education in Sarawak with schools growing talent and future leaders.
He further added that teachers need stronger support and training, with closer links between schools, communities and industries to ensure every student reaches their potential.
“The Bau District must emerge not only as a beautiful district with heritage and culture, but also a district that excels in education,” he added. — DayakDaily
